Online databases

Numerous online databases and other freely accessible services can be accessed via the Database Information System (DBIS) interface.

These include access to databases acquired with the support of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and its partner institutions. DBIS also provides an overview of the database offering of a number of German-language libraries.

Licenced electronic resources, including e-books, e-journals, and databases, may only be used by authorised users and in compliance with applicable law and licence terms. 

Unless otherwise specified, licenced resources are intended for private, academic, or other non-commercial purposes. It is generally prohibited to share content with third parties, to excessively or systematically download content, to publicly distribute content, to circumvent technical protective measures, as well as to use crawlers, scraping tools, or automated downloading programs unless these uses are permitted by law and the licence agreements.

Users are personally responsible for using electronic resources in conformity with the law and licence terms. In the event of violations, the library may, in accordance with the Library Use Ordinance, deny access and/or consider taking further legal action.

The multidisciplinary journal database DACH Information offers access to the full texts of over 850 journals and magazines. Subject areas include business and economics, law, management, marketing, psychology and social sciences.

DOAB is a directory for scientific peer-reviewed open access books. 93.500 publications are currently listed.

DOAJ contains over 21.000 open access journals with over 11.000.000 indexed articles.

EconLit offers over 500 journals and magazines in full text, including journals of the American Economic Association. The database contains more than 1.900.000 records for literature from 1969 to the present. EconLit covers almost all areas of economics and related fields with references to relevant documents. In addition, leading important journals and e-books are included in full text, which are not part of the Business Source Ultimate, including the Handbook of World Trade.

The Entrepreneurial Studies Source database provides the latest insights into entrepreneurship and small business. The resource offers full text for more than 70 major journals as well as e-books, case studies, company profiles and videos.

The Gabler Business Dictionary published by Springer-Gabler is considered a classic of business literature. Since 2009, it has been available as a freely accessible online offer with an extended range of uses. The freely accessible expert knowledge comprises 25.000 keywords - written by 200 proven experts and continuously reviewed by editors.

With its general, scientific and official titles, the database covers topics relating to the links between the environment and agriculture, education and teaching, law, health and technology. It is possible to search over 1.300.000 records and access is granted to over 15.000 free full texts.

Inlibra combines the contents of Nomos eLibrary, beck eLibrary, and VDI Verlag-eLibrary on a single platform, making it an interdisciplinary full-text database for e-books and journal articles. Here you can find, for example, a selection of e-books published by Nomos Verlag since 2006, as well as all e-books published between 2017 and 2020, offered under a DFG-funded national license. Access to other current e-books and subscribed journals is also provided.

The video-on-demand streaming service Kanopy currently provides access to around 21.000 films, documentaries, series and educational videos, mainly in English, covering a wide range of topics. Kanopy works directly with filmmakers and film distribution companies and thus offers material from the Media Education Foundation, PBS and the BBC, among others.

Website of the Kommunale Gemeinschaftsstelle für Verwaltungsmanagement (KGSt), the local government association for public administrators regarding local authority management. The knowledge database contains a variety of documents (statements, expert opinions, manuals, materials, reports and position papers) regarding local authority management issues.
Access with personal password for members (teachers, employees and students) of the HWR Berlin. Personal access by registering with the HWR email address as your "user name". By registering, you accept the KGSt's general terms and conditions, which creates a contract between you and the KGSt - not between the HWR and the KGSt.

Löwe-Rosenberg contains one of the most comprehensive and fundamental commentaries on the German Code of Criminal Procedure. The large commentary explains the Code of Criminal Procedure, the GVG, the EGGVG as well as the provisions of the MRK and the IPBPR relating to criminal proceedings.
