Personal data
Personal data is information which can be used to identify you. This includes, for example, information such as your name, your postal or IP address (insofar as not anonymised), telephone number and e-mail address. This does not include information that cannot be connected with your identity (e.g. anonymous log-files).
Personal data is only collected via the websites of the domain www.hwr-berlin.de if you have explicitly consented to this or if a collection and use is lawful pursuant to Art. 6 of the EU-GDPR.
As a rule, the HWR Berlin does not collect any personal data on its websites. In exceptional cases such data can, however, be collected, e.g. within the scope of a registration for an event via a web form. The HWR Berlin exclusively stores such contents at your request and if it is necessary for the respective procedure. The collection of personal data by the HWR Berlin is only carried out in the aforementioned exceptional cases after obtaining your explicit consent. We are obliged to prove upon request that you have consented to the processing of your personal data.
As a general rule, the HWR Berlin exclusively collects personal data via its website for stipulated, clear and legitimate purposes and does not further process these data in a manner that is incompatible with these purposes. The collection of such data is limited to the necessary extent and the HWR Berlin ensures that they are factually correct and, if necessary, are up to date. The data processed in the aforementioned manner will not be forwarded to third parties or used outside of the HWR Berlin.
03

04
Right of objection and right to erasure

You have the right to file an objection at all times against the processing of personal data relating to you (Art. 21 EU-GDPR). After exercising your right of objection the HWR Berlin will no longer process your personal data for these purposes, unless essential reasons that are worthy of protection can be proven for the processing, which outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or if the processing serves the assertion, exercising or defence of legal claims.
Many data processing activities are only possible with your explicit consent. You can revoke an already granted consent at all times. An informal notification to us by e-mail is sufficient for this purpose.

Analysis services for anonymised evaluation of data
The HWR Berlin stores usage data in order to optimise the web content of the domain www.hwr-berlin.de and to identify and track inadmissible attempts to access to the aforementioned website. This data is used to create anonymised access statistics.
When using the website of the HWR Berlin, various information is stored in the log-files automatically created by the server: the website you are visiting, the website from which you came to this site (if you used a search engine, the entered terms are stored as well), the date and time when the website was viewed, the operating system and the browser used by you (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.), as well as features of the display at hand. In addition, the size of the transmitted data volume, a so-called HTTP status code and the IP address of the accessing computer are stored. This information is, however, anonymised immediately by the erasure of the last octet of that address.
This is data without a direct reference to a specific person. The web team of the HWR Berlin collects and uses this data exclusively for anonymised evaluation for statistical purposes (e.g. to analyse the user behaviour) in order to improve its website. It is not possible in this case to allocate the evaluation results to a certain IP address.
Matomo (formerly Piwik), an open source application for web analysis, is used for the collection and use of the aforementioned data. The data is not forwarded to third parties or used outside the HWR Berlin.

Several of the cookies used by the HWR Berlin are deleted after the end of the browser session, that is, after your browser is closed (so-called session cookies). Other cookies remain on your terminal device and enable the web team of the HWR Berlin to recognise your browser during your next visit (persistent cookies). You can look up information about the duration of the storage in the overview of the cookie settings of your web browser.

In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie will be stored in your browser, with the result that Matomo does not collect any session data at all. If you delete your cookies, the opt-out cookie will be deleted as well. You would then, if applicable, have to activate it once again. Please note: If you decide against the use of cookies, there is the possibility that you may not be able to use all functions of this website to its full extent.
