Deputy President Professor Harald Gleißner dies at 59
It is with great sadness that we announce that our dear colleague, Professor Harald Gleißner, Deputy President of Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin died unexpectedly on 8 July.
Harald, professor of transportation and logistics and former dean of the Department of Cooperative Studies, loved to teach. He was also dedicated to supporting applied research at our university. He worked tirelessly to create ever more opportunities for students, faculty and staff to engage in cross-border learning and research. His commitment to international academic exchange was unrivaled and he enjoyed working with our university’s valued international partner universities all around the globe.
Harald joined HWR Berlin in 2004. Prior to that he had a distinguished career in retail logistics with a leading German mail-order company. He had also served in the Germany Army and remained a reserve officer.
Our university has lost an inspirational leader. Harald will be deeply missed.
