Expansion of a long-standing partnership

The Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) and the HWR Berlin have a long-standing partnership. In October 2024, a high-ranking delegation visited the Schöneberg campus.
The Southwestern University of Finance and Economics is one of the HWR Berlin's oldest partner universities. According to the archive, the partnership dates back to 1986 and the cooperation was contractually documented in 1994. The partnership was extended again in 2023.
Student exchanges came to a brief standstill due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the two universities are now looking forward to resuming the exchange. Conferences, joint research projects and exchange programmes at doctoral student level are also being discussed to intensify the exchange. Short-term programmes and COIL formats are also a way of allowing even more students to benefit from the partnership.
The guests from SWUFE Prof LI Zhisheng, Vice President, Prof WANG Xin, Prof ZHANG Jiarui, Assoc Prof LU Bo and Ms ZHANG Aini discussed this with representatives from HWR Berlin. In addition to Vice President Prof Dr Sabrina Schönrock, Prof Dr Ursula Walther, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Prof Dr Thomas Gruber, Prof Dr Jennifer Pédussel Wu and Prof Dr Hansjörg Herr as well as Ingrid Sperber and Katja Zühlsdorf from the International Office also took part.
Southwestern University of Finance and Economics is a university with a long tradition: it will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year. Prof LI Zhisheng, Vice President of SWUFE, has extended a cordial invitation to Prof Dr Jens Hermsdorf, President of HWR Berlin, to take part in the celebrations in June.
